Surgery?!? Not for these back pain sufferers!!!
Champaign, IL …“It never ceases to amaze me how much non-surgical spinal decompression can change people's lives for the better,”says Dr. T.K. Gossett, a local chiropractic physician, with 2.5 years of post-graduate study in orthopedics and 30 years of practice experience treating chronic and severe low back conditions. Below are 3 patient experiences over the past few years, since Dr. Gossett introduced this breakthrough medical procedure to the C-U area for treatment of chronic and severe lower back pain. (Names have been omitted to protect patients' confidentiality)
1) The first individual was in her mid-fifties, who prior to suffering from chronic-severe low back pain, was very active, walking several miles per day and “remodeling-flipping houses” for a living. After this condition developed, her activity levels gradually reduced to the point that she began gaining weight. She was preparing to retire and travel, however; the latter was going to be impossible due to her pain levels. When she presented to my office for a consultation, she was in continuous pain, 75 lbs overweight and toldby the specialists at the local Spine Institute, there was nothing that could be done for her low back pain, after failing to respond to medication, physical therapy and spinal injections, because of her obesity. She was out of options. She noted although she was willing to exercise, she was limited because of the low back pain and seemingly in a "catch-22” situation. I told her not to be overly concerned about the obesity, but to initially focus on allowing me to rebuild the infrastructure of her spine with this breakthrough medical procedure. I went on to explain, once her condition was corrected and stabilized, she would feel like exercising and we could then focus on her loosing the excess weight. After the recommended program of decompression, her pain was minimized and she began a daily exercise program of stretching, walking and lifting weights. A few months later, she dropped in the office to say hello & bring us a gift of appreciation. We didn’t even recognize her!! She had lost the 75 lbs and also noted she was completely out of pain! She highly recommends spinal decompression for anyone with low back pain, as she remains pain free 2 years later, with no relapses.
2) Another individual, in his early 60’s, who was recommended fusion surgery for an L-5 disc herniation because, as the orthopedic surgeon stated, “You are one wrong move away from paralysis . . . . . I can’t even believe you are sitting here in my office; this consultation should be taking place with you lying on a gurney in the ER!” Because a family member, who is a patient, was aware that I utilize non-surgical spinal decompression and recommended he call for a consultation, he did so and decided to try decompression therapy first. After decompression and rehab, he returned to full activities, including daily exercise. In fact, he is going all day long . . . his wife complains that she can’t keep up with him! He highly recommends spinal decompression before considering surgery and remains pain free 15 months later, with no relapses.
These are just two of the many patients, between the ages of 21 & 95 treated with this relatively new procedure, who truly “have their lives back”! It is very rewarding to be a part of making this possible and I look forward to helping many more people attain relief of chronic, severe pain and avoid surgery in the future.
3) There is one other rather unfortunate story to note. This patient came in with severe pain caused by a disc herniation and several disc bulges. Dr. Gossett states, “I recommended spinal decompression, but she was reluctant because this procedure is a relatively new and not covered by most insurance. Insurance did, however, cover spinal surgery with only a $250 deductible. So, due to financial considerations she decided to have the surgery, and had her spine fused at one level. Then, still in pain months later, the surgeon opted to fuse more levels of her spine. Unfortunately, this poor woman, still in debilitating pain, came to me pleading for spinal decompression therapy to help her. Because the spine was fused, from L-2 through S-1, my hands appeared tied. She did undergo some mild decompression for the levels above and below the fused area, but it provided only mild relief because, as we found out later, the screws placed in her spine during surgery were misplaced and irritating the spinal cord covering whenever she moved her torso, causing pain. Now, I can only help this dear woman manage her pain and it is unlikely she ever will be pain free again.” She has told me, “I wish with all my heart I had chosen spinal decompression therapy prior to the 2 surgeries because I believe I could have avoided all the pain, disability and suffering I continue to have today.” As she realizes now, surgery could have always been a last resort if decompression was unsuccessful. Dr. Gossett goes on to say, “This lady is now adamant that people should not allow insurance coverage to dictate their course of care, but should choose the most conservative option that provides the best opportunity for a positive outcome for their future. I think she would agree that when it comes to your health, medical care is NOT the place to go bargain hunting!”
If you are suffering with chronic or severe back pain, if you have failed previous back pain treatments, have been recommended surgery or perhaps have even had surgery without hardware (rods, screws and cages), you may be a candidate for spinal decompression. Dr. Gossett is available for consultations with potential candidates & accepting new patients for this highly successful treatment regimen. He will review your history, medical records, tests, and diagnosis to see if you qualify, in order to minimize or eliminate your pain. Call Gossett Clinic and Spinal Center today at 217-239-PAIN to make your appointment. (In the coming weeks, Dr. Gossett will also be adding equipment for cervical decompression to this facility, to treat sufferers of chronic and severe neck, shoulder, arm pain caused by compression of the spinal joints, nerve roots and canal.)
Wishing you excellent health and a full life!!

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS FOR BACK PAIN RELIEF AVAILABLE NOW
Champaign, IL … some believe that Non Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy is the latest, hi-tech treatment for those suffering the debilitating effects of bulging and herniated discs, sciatica, stenosis and spinal degeneration/arthritis. This revolutionary therapy is based on alleviating pressure on the delicate tissues that surround the spine, including the discs.
With claims of reversing the pressure within the disc, this ground-breaking procedure has gained clearance from the FDA as a computerized traction device that seems to be a true breakthrough. It uses no drugs or surgery and according to the American Journal of Pain Management. It has been shown highly effective in relieving pain on patients with herniated discs and other serious, difficult to treat conditions of the spine which have failed previous treatment regimens.
With a significant rate of pain relief and no known side-effects, Non Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy appears to be an answer for many of those searching for relief.
With the addition of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy, the Gossett Clinic and Spinal Center of Champaign, is giving C-U community members some much-needed relief for low back pain. “We have been helping a great many people achieve pain relief and get their lives back even though they had failed previous prescribed regimens and had sometimes been suffering for years, or even decades,” says Dr. Gossett, “We haven’t had a single negative outcome with this procedure yet.”

Breakthrough Treatment Offers Hope For Chronic Back Pain Sufferers in Central IL
Champaign, IL… Spinal Aid Centers of America, currently treating patients in nearly 150 locations across America, has brought its revolutionary spinal decompression treatment protocol for low back pain here to Champaign, IL.Gossett Clinic and Spinal Center of Champaign is the first Spinal Aid franchise in the Central Illinois area to offer this breakthrough therapy to local chronic and severe back pain sufferers. Back pain is a frustrating and debilitating condition that affects one in four Americans according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Until recently, drugs, manipulation, physical therapy, injections and surgery have been the main ways to treat back pain, often with poor results.Gossett Clinic utilizes the scientific discovery known as spinal decompression, a medical treatment without the use of drugs and surgery, for successful resolution of chronic and severe low back pain cases, even when conventional treatments have failed.
Patients who have had multiple opinions and tried different treatment programs, including those listed above, yet still have no relief, are getting their lives back after undergoing Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy. This relatively new procedure combines a wealth of scientific research and patented medical technology to deliver a safe, painless treatment that has been providing significant pain relief and recovery of function to many difficult to treat chronic back pain patients.
Both non-surgical spinal decompression therapy and Spinal Aid treatment protocols have been cleared by the FDA.With careful screening to qualify appropriate individuals for the procedure, there are no known side effects, and most patients have a favorable outcome. Many patients find the procedure to be so relaxing they actually report falling asleep during their treatment. Most patients also experience pain relief that both increases over the course of treatment and becomes permanent after treatment is completed, provided the patient suffers no new injury.Furthermore, treatment by spinal decompression is significantly less expensive and requires no recovery time compared surgery.Patients are able to resume their normal life immediately following treatments, with no down time or missed work for recovery.Patients are simply restricted from strenuous activity during the treatment program. This makes spinal decompression an ideal alternative to explore prior to surgery, as most patients find they no longer need surgery after completing a full treatment regimen.Conditions that have been successfully treated with non-surgical spinal decompression include: bulging and herniated discs, sciatica, stenosis, spinal degeneration/arthritis, and spondylolisthesis.
Gossett Clinic is offering free consultations to sufferers of chronic and severe back pain to provide information about this procedure and to determine whether non-surgical decompression would be of benefit to them. For more information about this revolutionary therapy and to schedule a free consultation, contact Gossett Clinic at 217-239-PAIN (7246).
